an enchanting and unique historic icon. The ultimate hideaway or unique boutique retreat perched magnificently on the clifftops above Wai-iti Beach, on 6.0 hectares of land with stunning established bush, a commanding presence with panoramic and breath-taking ocean views. The vista encompasses Mount Taranaki to the left and to the right is the west coastline spanning as far as the eye can see, offering the most spectacular sunsets imaginable.

The space

A Unique getaway and world class experience starts with winding your way along a scenic bush-clad driveway to the cliff top where complete paradise awaits you. Recently undergone a total refurbishment, The Castle is a stunning stone homestead. Now featuring a modernised kitchen and 4 bathrooms, full heating and substantial furnishings. All 6 bedrooms adorn Luxurious beds with quality linen, fully equipped kitchen with butlers pantry, formal dining and relaxed living, all surrounding and opening to a tranquil and private courtyard which is the heart beat of this stunning home.

An iconic masterpiece designed by Arts& Crafts architect James Chapman-Taylor, this majestic home was built in 1928 almost entirely out of local materials, hand-adzed exposed beams, custom stonework and crafted hand forged hinges, mostly constructed on-site, in line with tradition. The substantially stunning craftmanship gives The Castle a deserving place as one of the country's finest examples reminiscent of it's era, a wonderful experience to stay in.

Guest access

Relax in the stunning gardens with a glass of wine and listen to the waves crash against the Cliff walls. Treat yourself to a bath in the garden with the sea and garden vista while you relax in total bliss. Wake up to Tui bird song, look out to the courtyard or ocean and realise you are in complete paradise.

Welcome to wander through the many bush tracks and make your way down to the private beach access.

  • Additional features include: Unlimited wifi, radiator heating in every room throughout the house, Towels and Basic Supplies.

  • Please note the 6th bedroom is a loft space containing three single beds and access is up a wooden ladder.
